Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya was established on October 14, 1956 under the Act XIX of 1956 of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. First of its kind in the Asian continent, it is a university solely dedicated to music and various art forms. The aim of the university is to provide instructions in all branches of Music and Fine Arts, to make provisions for research and advancement of studies in Music and Fine Arts and dissemination of knowledge thereof. This is the oldest University of Chhattisgarh and celebrated Golden Jubilee on 14th October 2006. IKSVV is an active member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Established in 1956 at Chandigarh, Pracheen Kala Kendra is a philanthropic non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation and dissemination of Indian classical arts as well as imparting quality education, training and conducting examinations in the field of performing and visual arts.
Today, the Kendra is one of the oldest affiliating and examining body of India with its Headquarters in Chandigarh, an enormous sister set-up in Mohali (Punjab) and a zonal office for Eastern region at Kolkata (West Bengal) besides zonal/liaison office at Ludhiana and Bhubaneswar (Odisha). It conducts examinations spanning over nine years and awards certificates and diplomas of Prarambhik, Bhushan, Visharad, Bhaskar and Churamani to the successful students. The Kendra has grown taller with each passing year.
